The Micro/Nanophysics Research Laboratory (MNRL) in the School of Engineering at RMIT University is at the forefront of fundamental and applied research on nonlinear high frequency (MHz order) electroacoustic interactions with matter (fluids, two-dimensional and bulk crystals, biomolecules, cells and microorganisms). In addition to exploring its use for diverse applications (e.g., microfluidics, drug delivery and nanomedicine, diagnostics and biosensing, tissue engineering and mechanobiology, and, sonochemical materials synthesis, manipulation and processing), the laboratory has discovered a number of novel physicochemical phenomena in this area and is actively working to develop theories to elucidate the fundamental mechanisms that underpin them.
